How does canceling a debit card work?

My brother stole my debit card and used it for age verification on the internet and come to find out it was a scam and now they will try to charge my account 39.95 a month and i cant cancel no matter what. Will cancelling my debit card solve this problem or must i cancel my whole checking account.|||Yes you can just tell the bank that you have lost your card and ask them to block or close any transaction from your card.
