How does cancelling a direct debit affect your credit rating?

I have been told by banks and others that cancelling an active direct debit can negatively effect your credit score. I don't want to pay for this information and think that it is a ridiculous system where this is even possible. Where do I stand?|||It does not affect your credit score at all. The only reason banks probably like to say that is because with a direct debit, they are more assured that the customer will pay on time each month since it is automatically deducted. |||a direct debit has no effect on your credit score. it is a form of payment. you can choose your own form of payment. as long as the payments are good.
