How long does it take your bank to process debit transactions versus credit transactions?

Does it take thesame amount of time to process a "Credit" transaction using your debit card?|||Debit transactions are immediate. Credit transactions only post once the business that uses your card settles their credit card machine.|||Debit is almost instantaneous where as credit may take 3-4 days to show up on the acct. If you are thinking of using the debit as a credit before the money is even there,I wouldn't advise it. I know at least 6 people who tried doing it and had excessive overdraft fees applied to their acct.|||It takes less time to process a debit transaction. But the truth is, that the time is variable, and can happen in minutes, or even seconds.

Don't count on the times for kiting money. it doesn't work out.|||NO, they do debits then credits just like they do checks and deposits so they can hopefully charge you with an overdraft fee.|||the same time frame about 90 seconds if they wish
