How do i get a debit card with bank of america?

Im 18 years old and this will be my first bank account. Do i have to open a checking or savings? And how much will it cost, also is their a monthly fee for just having a checking or savings account. I need the debit card so i can pay my college tuition and other fee's.|||Research a bit before you decide which bank you would like to go for regarding checking/saving account and debit card.

It is almost the beginning of the fall semester, many banks are doing promotions, offering different deals to attract college students. Go to the websites of the banks besides BOA and see what kind of promotions they are having for student saving/checking account.

You can also walk into any banks in your areas, look at their new account pamphlets (they list all features, debit card, credit card, various fees, minimum balance, services etc of different types of checking/saving accounts). With pamphlets from different banks, you can do a comparison and decide which one you want to go with. If you are not clear about anything, talk to a representative at anytime. Do not need to rush, make a decision after you get all info. And, you can always close an account and open a new one with the same or different bank (but you do not want to waste the time or the new checks etc, if you don't have to).

Good luck with this and wishing you a great semester!|||A debit card is a card that pulls money out of your (usually) checking account. So yeah, you have to open an account.

A credit card is a card that advances you money you don't have to buy stuff. They'll probably gladly give you one, figuring that you'll never pay off the balance every month and they'll make tons of interest off you. Plus, with no credit history you'll get the highest interest card they can get away with.

Bank of America is the suckiest bank in the country... don't you have another bank in your town? They charge fees out the wazoo for everything.

Better bet would be to go to Finance office at school and see what kind of student loans/ finance arrangements they can make for you. They'll be more than happy to work with you since the economy is in the crapper and enrollment is dropping.

Good Luck,

BOA's is pretty good, so you are making a good choice. The only thing you need to open an account is about $50 for an initial deposit, which you can withdraw later.|||yes you need to open a checking account

for the best answers you should go into bank of America speak with new account rep

they can explain everything most banks will have accounts for college students
